Vaskadar - Cold Weather Gear

Description

The Thermally Insulated Semi-Powered Survival Carapace, often abbreviated as Thermal Armor is supplemental armor that provides thermal insulation and warmth in extreme cold weather conditions.

On the back of the carapace are three magnetic holsters, which provides externalized storage for weaponry. The power cell provides light electromagnetic deflection shielding, which protects against small arms fire, as well as a heat source for the wearer. The mantle is composed of a lightweight titanium alloy, reinforced with an iridium frame and ceramic plates underneath. Iridine crystal conductors provide the shielding output at set emission locations on the armor.

The helmet/snow-mask has photoreactive optic fiber slats that adjust to different light conditions, and relay the data to ocular O-LED displays on the inside of the helmet, allowing for greater peripheral view as well as a projected heads-up-display. The slats appear red from the outside. The slats also provide digital zoom and visual enhancement of distant objects, as well as motion detection software.

The snow-mask attaches to the thermal armor's power connector that extends from the right side via flexible cable protected by thermally resistant polymer wrapping. The whole setup, minus the peripheral gear weighs about 24 kilograms.

The greaves and boots are given additional thermal insulation, to prevent frostbite of the feet. They provide ample support, and have a weight dispersal system, not unlike a snowshoe, that extends from the bottom of the boots. The boots also have embedded climbing cleats to provide additional grip.

The holographic readout device that is attached to the right hand wirelessly relays information from the weapon in hand to the display and HUD of the snow-mask. It also provides global positioning data, as well as range-finding information given by the weapon in hand.

Vaskadar carries climbing rope, a grappling hook, and carabiners hooked onto his belt. In his side packs, he carries spare ammunition, power cells, C-rations, and a small thermal digging tool, to help with carving out small holes for shelter in the ice. The parka he wears in this image is currently withdrawn, so as to show the mask and facial wrap combination.

The pauldrons on the side of his arm also provide a magnetic sheath for his Eviscerator, a 50cm-long blade that projects a thin line of superheated hydrogen plasma along the edge of the blade when active, providing a good tool for cutting into just about anything.

I question how well it'd work if a hole got shot into it somehow, but the key is to not have that happen ever. :la:
Also, magnets remind me of a particular Halo comic that I can't find. :meow:
