Description

This ain't your ordinary 6-shooter...

The Aurora Disruption Magnum is a custom-manufactured weapon, capable of tearing a hole through damn near anything. As other revolvers cycle their rounds, it has to cycle the power cells after discharge, venting mid-cycle. These power cells are made out of Iridine crystal, capable of storing the highly volatile power of disruption energy. After each shot, the amount of thermo-electrical discharge is enough to make the cylinder explode if not vented immediately, which is why it rotates and ventilates each cycle. After usage, the power cells should be recharged.

Mounted on top of the weapon is an advanced visor up-link that relays shot distance, power output, and cell charges remaining. It also provides a HUD reticule for rapid target acquisition. The range is based upon the information relayed via infrared laser, bouncing back from the target. The weapon also has an IFF safety mechanism built into its handle.

Disruption weapons have a drawback, if the coherence field isn't maintained, they will disintegrate themselves. Maintaining the coherence field requires that a separate power pack be installed in the weapon. In the Aurora, it is located in the handle.

Discharge chamber is approximately 4.5 cm in diameter (that's the inside diameter of the barrel). Single discharge will puncture a hole about 5 cm in diameter.

Effective single discharge range should be approximately 50 to 75 meters, within which a kill is nearly guaranteed. Overcharge 6-cell discharge will triple the range.

This weapon has an output of 1200 Gigareyx per single discharge. An overcharged shot will discharge each of the 6 cells at once, that's 7200 potential gigareyx. That's enough power to motor through the chest cavity of ten armored enemies with ease. The weapon has a sliding counterbalance that ensures the follow-up shot will hit its target. The sliding counterbalance is located underneath the barrel and is in line with the shooter's hand.

*One reyx is one milligram of solid mass disintegrated
